In Bloom

My kids are pretty cool, funny children.

Last week Clarissa had another eye appointment and she did great. It was a checkup to make sure her new glasses were a good match for her. She passed with flying colors and even stumped her doctor. One of the tests completed consisted of having some shapes projected onto a far wall. This particular shape was a circle inside of a partially finished square. She squinted her eyes and said, "I think it's a circle, but it could also be an octagon. I'm going to say octagon."

This last weekend Joey was able to attend one of his friends' birthday parties. The mascot is a tiger and everyone knows how unless a costume is movie quality, they're always discernible on what the actual thing is. When the tiger walked into the room, all the kids yelled, "It's the cheeto guy!" All of the parents laughed, of course, but how embarrassing must that be. It's obviously a high school person in the monstrosity of a thing, sweating, and getting called the wrong thing.

This morning Clarissa woke up talking about her dream. Here's our conversation:

CJ: Mommy! I dreamed about a dinosaur. We were on a train and a dinosaur got on it.

Me: What kind of a dinosaur was it?

CJ: A brachiosaurus.

Me: Was a nice dinosaur?

CJ: Oh yes! He was the nicest dinosaur.

Me: What color was he?

CJ: Blue . . . like my eyes.

Me: Did he talk?

CJ: Yes

Me: Well, what did he say?

CJ: Hey, Blue Eyes!
