Happy Patriot's Day

I know it's a common misconception, but Patriot's Day is actually not for the New England Patriots. It's actually an observance day for the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Don't worry; I didn't know that until we moved up here. Our first year here I thought that Massachusetts was super crazy about their (superbowl losing) NFL team.

Anyway, on with our weekend. It was so nice! Keith had Friday off work and it's a good thing. He was super busy. The kids and I had a relaxing weekend. Thursday evening he came home and busted out our walkway. He thought it would be an easy job, but it turned out there was a sidewalk underneath our walkway. It wouldn't have mattered too much, but he's moving our walkway out and making it wider. So, he had to make sure he could plant grass where the current one is. Friday he just cleaned up his mess from Thursday and got things in order to start his project. Saturday morning he had softball practice for the church leage and later that day we got the bricks and he started laying them. Then, we had Nicolas's b-day party so he stopped to go have some fun. When we came home that night he was going to finish up but ran out of sand. After church Sunday he grabbed some sand and got it almost complete. He's 6 bricks shy. It turns out the landscaping place we got the bricks from is closed on Sunday. Ugh . . oh well. At least yesterday he got to relax a little.

We also got to have dinner with Tammi and Cara. For those of you not too familiar with the family Cara is Terra and Tammi's mom . . . well, and Shawn and Bryan's, too. It was really nice getting to see her. I've known her for TWENTY years. Crazy, huh? I love seeing family and friends, but it really makes me realize that I miss them alot. We had so much fun at Nicolas's b-day party, but I couldn't help being a little jealous. He had his whole family there and I know that neither Joey or Clarissa will ever have that. It's just hard.

On top of our weekend we also started actively potty training Joey. He's doing really great. I'm hoping that it'll be easier than all of the books and articles have said. How rich do you think I'd become if I could invent a pill that magically potty-trained kids? Bethany and I joked saying that it would be worth it to put the kids into daycare for just one week to have them potty trained. So, all the parents out there . . . any suggestions?
