I all started last week. Wednesday we headed off to the mall to meet Tammi for lunch. I had to take Joey to the potty and was sure she would bawl her head off while we were away, but I came back to a non-crying child! It was amazing! By the way, Joey absolutely LOVED Tammi. We haven't seen Tammi probably since Clarissa was around five months or so. It was like they were meeting her, again, for the first time. Afterwards, we headed to the nutritionist to check on Clarissa's weight . . . and she didn't cry! While I placed her in the scale, she didn't cry! Who is this? What have you done with my child? Just so everyone knows, Clarissa is doing well. We were concerned about her weight and so we scheduled an appointment with the nutritionist. She examined her and concluded that all is well. She is gaining weight, just not as rapidly as she had in the beginning. Both her doctor and nutritionist believe she'll just be small like me.
Thursday morning we headed to our friend's house to have yummy breakfast. Clarissa climbed out of my arms, walked over to Bethany, and had her hold her! That seriously has NEVER happened. It was . . . words just can't describe it. Clarissa is pretty comfortable at our friends' houses, but has never GONE to anyone else.
We left our friend's house and headed home to start a busy weekend. I fed the kids, took Joey to school, and waited. Debbie was on her way to our house. She ended up showing up right on time. She was able to get acquainted with Clarissa before we headed to Joey's school. There, she got to by the mystery ready and it was adorable! We walked into his classroom and all of the kids were laying on the rug, face down so not to see anything. When they were able to open their eyes, Joey actually saw me out of the corner of his eye and ran to me. It was PRECIOUS. Then, he noticed Debbie and was a little confused. It took him a minute or so to realize why she was there. In the middle of her story, he just shouted out, "Grammy is taking me on a choo-choo train ride! We are going to eat at the Alamo!"
Friday morning we woke up early to head to the train station. Joey was really excited! Neither Joey or Clarissa have ever ridden the train before (unless you count the countless times I rode the train while pregnant with Joey). We were surprised to see both kids have a great time on the train!
We headed to the Aquarium once we were in Boston. Again, our kids surprised us. We figured Joey would have a blast, and though he had fun, Clarissa was the one that LOVED it. We also had another pleasant surprise, we ran into our friends.
We walked around the city for a bit before heading back home.
They both crashed on the way home.
Saturday was a whole different story. Unfortunately, Clarissa was very tired and did not want to cooperate. We had plans to go to the Butterfly Place, but CJ changed our plans. We ended up pulling over to the side of the road so I could calm her. Once she was calm, both she and Joey had fun just running around in the parking lot. Don't worry, the lot was vacant. We ended up in the Davis' Farmland lot, and it is currently closed for the winter.
Sunday we went to church and then came home to get ready for a little get together we had with some friends. It was also Debbie's birthday, so we had some birthday cake. What is it with kids and candles? They all love blowing candles! Well, actually, Clarissa has never attempted. We've never let her attempt.
Monday we just took it easy. The weekend took a lot out of us! We just ended up going to the mall and letting the kids play in the indoor playground.
Tuesday Debbie left back to Texas. Luckily, Keith decided after dropping her at the airport to take the rest of the day off work! It is always so nice just spending time with my husband and kids! Joey had school that day and Keith, Clarissa, and I had a nice, relaxing time just looking around at stores while he was in school. It is so funny. You never realize how hard it is to shop with more than one child. I'm sure it multiplies with more children.
Anyway, that was our trip with Grammy in a nut shell.
