Tuesday morning we set out and had a long day of traveling. We flew from BOS to ORD to DFW and then drove all the way to Amarillo. Our day started about five in the morning and finally got to the Amarillo hospital around 11:30 p.m. or so; 12:30 a.m. our time. We were able to see Bree in ICU that night. Wednesday morning we received word that she wasn't doing very well at all and Keith and I rushed to the hospital. By 4:30 p.m. that evening we had lost her.
We all love and miss Bree very much. She was a very strong and a loving person. Family was comforted by the fact that she is no longer hurting.
Keith's side of the family was all in town for about a week afterwards and we were able to visit with everyone. It was nice, but we wish we'd gotten together for a different reason. His aunt Lisa married a while ago and we've never been able to get to know him and this trip allowed us to get to know Uncle "Bonnie." Joey and Clarissa loved playing with all of their great-aunts, great-uncles, and 2nd cousins.
We were also able to visit with my family and Joey had a blast spending time with his cousins. Clarissa enjoyed having her grandpa's attention.
I wish we lived close enough to Amarillo to visit more often, but it makes it more special to see family. We love and miss all of ya'll.
We finally came home Tuesday 6/23 and what a time we had! We flew out of Amarillo to DFW, had lunch with Shane and Stephanie, flew out of DFW to ORD (where we had a delay), and flew into Boston (where we realized the airline lost all of our luggage). We ended up going to bed about three in the morning and I think we're finally caught up on sleep. Now, we're just struggling to get back on schedule.
