Seven years ago

It was seven years ago today that totally shook a country. Do you remember where you were? Keith and I had just gotten married and were living in Lubbock. I remember getting a call from Debbie early in the morning making sure everything was fine. Of course, I had no clue what was happening and turned on my television. What I saw sent chills down my spine. How could someone be filled with so much hate and intentionally do something so horrifying? I think we all thought the same. We wanted to hear our loved ones voices and hug them. We wanted to just let them know that we loved them and were so thankful that they were okay. Since we were in Texas at the time we were not really scared that something would happen to us, but our thoughts and prayers immediately went to those living closer to the attacks. Keith and I even attended a prayer meeting with so many others that night. So, my prayer is the same today as it was back then.

Lord, hear our prayers! You are the great redeemer and healer. You love us and weep with us. We know that our country is far from perfect. So much is happening in the world today that you find displeasing, but you still love us! I thank you for allowing us to live in such a great country. Only because of our fighting troops and great leaders are we able to live in such a wonderful country. We have the freedom to have our own opinions. I thank you so much for all the blessings you have given us! I lift up those effected by the September 11th attacks, both victims and our enemies, and just ask that you wrap your loving arms around them. Allow them to be surrounded by loving, godly people. Allow the hate to ease from their hearts and fill with joy. I can only imagine what these people must be feeling and pray that their grief be tolerable and love to be in abundance. Lord, I pray for our country. We are reminded, especially on this day, that we are not all powerful. Our country needs healing. We need to unite and stand behind our leaders. We need to support ourselves, each other, and our troops. I cry out your name! Lord, hear our prayers! In Jesus' name I pray . . . AMEN

We are blessed to live in such a great country. There is so much talk of the campaign right now and it is getting ridiculous. Just remember the feeling we had right after the attacks when we all united! Let's do that, again! UNITE! With that said, as the election is drawing closer, imagine with each candidate how they would handle themselves in a situation like this. Most of you know my stand on this. So, would you rather have a president cut BILLIONS of dollars in defense contracts or a man that would increase spending on defense and homeland security?
