Isn't she a beauty? Today I was able to curl her hair with a curling iron for the first time.
Have you ever done something that makes you so embarrassed? That was me yesterday. As I was dressing Clarissa yesterday I noticed a brown spot. At first glance it looked like some sort of speck of dirt or something. After I tried to brush it off her skin, the panic set. I was not sure what it was. I thought it might be a bruise or possibly some sort of weird bug bite.
I had Clarissa's teacher look at it to confirm my fear. Three teachers and one nurse later we were all concerned. The nurse mentioned it look like a burn of some sort. She originally thought it was a bruise, too, but having no other discoloration and the fact that it was smooth had her guessing.
I was able to get Clarissa into the doctor later that morning to get examined. The nurse there looked just as perplexed as the rest of us were. When her doctor was able to examine it she also mentioned a possible burn, but was also confused as to why it was smooth. Did I mention that anytime anyone touched her arm Clarissa would cry out yelling that it hurt? Dr. Crawford decided to clean the questionable area to get a better look. The question was answered in the half a second it took to clean the spot. It was marker.

Oh Rachel, that is the funniest story! You shouldn't be embarrassed, especially when everyone else thought the same thing you did. :)
That's a classic! When I was working at a Day Care we had a mom call in because her daughter had a weird rash around her face. The mom was thinking maybe it was an allergic reaction, but her description of the "rash" had me wondering if this little girl hadn't done something I'd done myself a million times as a kid. The day care had cameras everywhere and they were able to go back and review what the little girl had had at lunch and snack time...and I was proven right. It wasn't a rash- the girl had created a vaccuum seal around her mouth with her cup. I was ROLLING! That poor Momma was having a heart attack and I was just like...wow, you seriously never did that? LOL!
