School's Out

I know, I know . . . TWO posts in one day? I just wanted to take a moment and brag about my little man. Today was his last day of school. It wasn't monumental or anything. I mean . . . he only has a week off school since he'll also be attending summer school, but I'm so proud of him. This was his first full year of school and he did fantastic. He's so brilliant and social. I have to let everyone know that I think his teachers are the best and so loving.

Joey is such a funny guy, too. Keith and I were thinking about some of the funny things that were sent home this year. For instance, during the letter A week they were supposed to color apples. Joey refused to color his apple and his quote on the back of the apple was "I don't like apples." So, we have a plain white apple with that saying. His first picture he colored this school year he was asked what he hoped to do in preschool. His answer was to "color a chicken." Really, I mean . . . where does he come up with this things?

Below are the pictures that both Joey and his best friend from school Elliott colored. I thought they were hilarious.

I Wanna be Sedated

Sedated. Really, I just want a big 'ol long nap after my weekend. I feel like we've been on the go without any breathing room.

Thursday

Joey had his gymnastic meet. He did absolutely fantastic! I was surprised at exactly how well he minds and does his little tricks. Keith and I are very proud of him. We're looking forward to him continuing this sport. Keith took gymnastics as a child and surprisingly is very agile considering he is 6'4". Below is a picture of Joey and his teacher Miss Deb.

That evening Terra came into town. She came into town for her last "hoorah" before getting married in August. It's a little bitter sweet. I'm happy that she's found someone that obviously makes her happy, but I can't stand the fact that I've never met her fiance.

Friday

We decided to keep Joey home from school to spend some time with Terra. We ended up going to lunch, fed the ducks, and did some hiking.

That evening Terra and I headed to Tammi's for a girls' night out and it was so weird. This was the first sleepover I've had since before marrying Keith. I've only been away from Joey when I had Clarissa and never away from Clarissa. It was just odd.

We ended up going to Northampton and seeing Ingrid Michaelson in concert. It was fantastic! I hadn't been to a concert since . . . gosh, maybe a concert at the fair in Lubbock a couple of years after Keith and I were married. Northampton is two hours away so we ended up not getting back to Tammi's until two in the morning and before my head even hit the pillow I was fast asleep.

Saturday

Being the mother of a little girl that consistently wakes around 5:30 - 6:00 every morning I was unable to sleep in too much. I first woke at 5:30 and forced myself to sleep until 7:30 waiting on both Terra and Tammi to wake at a later time.

We stalled a bit in the morning because Shawn surprised Terra by flying into town to spend the weekend. After Shawn arrived we had a nice little lunch in Harvard Square and then walked a bit.

I finally returned home that evening around five just to hurry and feed the kids, bathe them, and take them to Yolanda's for their very first sleepover. They did great and had a fantastic time.

Keith and I headed into Boston to have a nice dinner together at Erbaluce. Afterward, we headed to Tammi's for a little party she was throwing for Terra.

Keith and I are not cool and way too old to have this sort of schedule all of the time.

Sunday

We ended up waking early so we could head to church in the morning. Talk about it being tough waking early when we had no kids and were out until 2:00 a.m. the night before. Yeah, we're lame. We're not ashamed to admit that we're homebodies and would rather spend the night in with our kids than out on the town . . . but it was a treat getting dressed up and having a lovely dinner!

After church we headed to lunch with our friends to help celebrate Father's Day. Here's Joey attempting to blow a bubble with his gum after lunch:

After lunch we headed to the park to play a bit.

Finally, we headed into Boston to meet Terra and just had a nice relaxing stroll through the Navy Yards.

It is Well

It has been one year since Bree has passed. We miss her greatly, but take comfort in the fact that she was a child of God and is no longer suffering. We love and miss you, Breezy!

Little Man

Keith and I often joke that we should have named Joey, "Keith, Jr." It's pretty obvious that Joey is Keith's mini me. The two look just alike and act alike. Don't get me wrong, I believe that Clarissa also favors Keith, but even Joey's mannerisms are similar to Keith's.

This is how Joey dressed himself this morning:

More than Words

Keith and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary yesterday. Unfortunately, we're pretty lame so we didn't really do anything special. We ended up meeting for lunch but just had leftovers for dinner.

Here are nine reasons why I love my husband:

1. He's smart . . . very. I love how smart he is. He amazes me how intelligent he is.

2. He's funny. He should go on tour. He's so hilarious and makes me laugh so hard that I cry.

3. He's handy. He understands and knows how to do it all! He's my mechanic, carpenter, plumber, and gardener. He is so talented that it's crazy.

4. He's handsome. I mean, have you seen my hubby? He's gorgeous. He has some beautiful eyes and a smile that melts my heart. I'm a fan of his square jaw, too. Seriously, he's a hunk.

5. He's a hard worker. Only by the grace of God does Keith have the ability to provide for our family, but he works extra hard to make sure it is feasible. I'm so thankful that I can stay home and raise our two kids. I appreciate that he works so hard for us.

6. He's my best friend. He listens to me rant about my tough days, good days, what I like in fashion, movies, and has to sit through me going through a few outfits before I finally decide what to wear. Did I mention he brings me home Starbucks? He knows exactly how to make me smile.

7. He's courteous and generous. He tries to the best of ability to help others. He pulls over to help change complete stranger's tires and helps others in any way he is able whether it be by yard work, building play houses, or by lugging stuff around in his truck.

8. He's a fantastic father. He always makes time for the kids even after having a long day of work and tries to always include them in whatever he is doing. Joey has mad skills in carpentry and understands the logistics of almost anything electrical because Keith has the patience and ability to teach him in a way he can understand.

9. He loves God. He is a good Christian man and I love that he knows and understands the Bible.

Thank you, Keith, for being the man you are. I love you so much it's retarded.

R-O-C-K in the USA

We had a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend. Long weekends with my family is always enjoyable. For Keith's Father's Day present we decided to buy it early and it was perfect for this weekend: a barbecue grill. We definitely took advantage of it seeing as how we were extreme carnivores this weekend eating steaks, hot dogs, and hamburgers every day. I'm certain I gained some weight. I'm sure those margaritas helped in that department.

We had our friends over Saturday and Sunday. We bought a pinata and the kids had a blast! It was a first for all of our kids and it was surprising to see that our kids each understood how to hit it. I was extremely impressed with Joey. He looked like he was trying to hit a home run on Dora's head.

I am very grateful to live in a country where we can enjoy our freedom. It's always endearing reading everyone's updates on facebook on certain holidays. Most everyone thanked our fallen troops yesterday and it is amazing to realize that the reason we have so much freedom is only become of those brave soldiers past, present, and future protecting our country.
