Thursday
Joey had his gymnastic meet. He did absolutely fantastic! I was surprised at exactly how well he minds and does his little tricks. Keith and I are very proud of him. We're looking forward to him continuing this sport. Keith took gymnastics as a child and surprisingly is very agile considering he is 6'4". Below is a picture of Joey and his teacher Miss Deb.
That evening Terra came into town. She came into town for her last "hoorah" before getting married in August. It's a little bitter sweet. I'm happy that she's found someone that obviously makes her happy, but I can't stand the fact that I've never met her fiance.
Friday
We decided to keep Joey home from school to spend some time with Terra. We ended up going to lunch, fed the ducks, and did some hiking.
That evening Terra and I headed to Tammi's for a girls' night out and it was so weird. This was the first sleepover I've had since before marrying Keith. I've only been away from Joey when I had Clarissa and never away from Clarissa. It was just odd.
We ended up going to Northampton and seeing Ingrid Michaelson in concert. It was fantastic! I hadn't been to a concert since . . . gosh, maybe a concert at the fair in Lubbock a couple of years after Keith and I were married. Northampton is two hours away so we ended up not getting back to Tammi's until two in the morning and before my head even hit the pillow I was fast asleep.
Saturday
Being the mother of a little girl that consistently wakes around 5:30 - 6:00 every morning I was unable to sleep in too much. I first woke at 5:30 and forced myself to sleep until 7:30 waiting on both Terra and Tammi to wake at a later time.
We stalled a bit in the morning because Shawn surprised Terra by flying into town to spend the weekend. After Shawn arrived we had a nice little lunch in Harvard Square and then walked a bit.
I finally returned home that evening around five just to hurry and feed the kids, bathe them, and take them to Yolanda's for their very first sleepover. They did great and had a fantastic time.
Keith and I headed into Boston to have a nice dinner together at Erbaluce. Afterward, we headed to Tammi's for a little party she was throwing for Terra.
Keith and I are not cool and way too old to have this sort of schedule all of the time.
Sunday
We ended up waking early so we could head to church in the morning. Talk about it being tough waking early when we had no kids and were out until 2:00 a.m. the night before. Yeah, we're lame. We're not ashamed to admit that we're homebodies and would rather spend the night in with our kids than out on the town . . . but it was a treat getting dressed up and having a lovely dinner!
After church we headed to lunch with our friends to help celebrate Father's Day. Here's Joey attempting to blow a bubble with his gum after lunch:
After lunch we headed to the park to play a bit.
Finally, we headed into Boston to meet Terra and just had a nice relaxing stroll through the Navy Yards.
