Family Day

We had such a great day today! I think our household is finally feeling 100% better! I think it really helped that we slept in this morning. We didn't even turn the alarm clock on for church. CJ usually wakes us up no later than eight, but she woke up super early only to go back to bed until nine! Joey slept for about thirty minutes later. It was so great taking our time getting out of bed and just relaxing. It's what we all needed from having the week we did. Even the butterflies were hanging around our house.

After breakfast and playing around a bit we decided to go to a wading pool close to our house. A couple of years ago when we were looking at houses to buy we had looked at a house in Marlborough (next town over) and really loved the location. It was next to a private Christian school, football field, park, and this particular wading pool. We loved the house, but it needed immediate work. The full bath was shot and there were other major issues. So, we opted for our house (nicer town and not any immediate problems needed to be addressed).

So, a couple of years ago we decided we were going to take Joey to the wading pool and never did. Last year we were going to and never did. This year we had every intention of taking him and finally decided to take both kids today. I'm so happy we did! It is such an amazing little pool for the kids! It's so clean and perfect for the kids. It's not too busy, either. There is one drawback . . . today was the last day it was open for the season! Keith and I felt terrible. Both Joey and Clarissa loved it and they were only going to get to play there one time until next year. So, after lunch and nap time we decided to make a point to return. The kids had a blast the second time around, too. The pool closed at six and we were still there. The lifeguards (crazy that there were even any there) shut off the fountain and Joey yelled, "Oh,no!" He proceeded to tell us that the swimming pool was broken and to fix it, you just needed to replace the batteries. Hmmm, I guess I tell him quite a bit that when his toys are broken that the batteries need to be replaced.

After leaving the pool we decided to go eat a pizza. We hardly ever go into the pizza parlor. We decided to just go out and enjoy ourselves today, though. The kids and I have been stuck indoors for a week! We needed to be out and having some fun! After we left there, we went up to St. Mark's for a walk. I wish I would have had my camera. That campus is so gorgeous. The kids really enjoyed just being outdoors and away from home.
