July 20, 2012:
Keith took the kids fishing for the first time, and it was a hit. I actually met them there. I was maybe 10 minutes behind them, and by the time I got there both kids had already caught their first fishes! The fish were really biting for them. In fact, the kids would hover their lines over the water, and the fish would jump up and bite!
Clarissa had me hold her rod really quick while she did something, and I caught my first fish ever. My grandpa would be proud. My grandparents used to take my sister Cindy and me fishing all of the time when we were younger, but I never caught a fish. I wonder, now, if my grandpa would give me a pole without any bait on it and just tell me to be as quiet as possible.
Keith had a hard time fishing. The kids were really doing well on fishing so when he finally got to cast, this is what he caught.
He did much better the next time. In fact, we had a delicious lunch!
I think Keith really wanted to take the kids fishing in order to feel closer to Popeye. Popeye used to take all the grandkids fishing when they were younger. Keith often tells me that when he's fishing, he feels closer to Popeye. Since this first day, Keith has taken the kids fishing almost every Saturday morning during summer. This last year Joey was finally able to bait his line all by himself. :)
